Intense Pulse Light (IPL) has been known more commonly for cosmetic treatment for Rosacea, vascularization, and pigmentation, it has reemerged as a new treatment for the rising issue of Ocular Rosacea. It involves the application of high-intensity broad-spectrum (infrared to blue) light pulses that penetrate the affected regions of the skin to inflammation.

IPL is an in-office procedure that takes about 20 minutes. During the procedure, your eyes will be covered with a protective shield. A cooling gel will be applied to the treatment area and your eye care professional will use the handheld IPL machine to administer the treatment.

For optimal results, four treatments are recommended usually a month apart. However, some patients may require more.
