Dr_Daniel_Chang_ARVO_2012-rightMedicine is a rapidly-changing field. New technologies and techniques give physicians an ever-increasing ability to detect, diagnose, and treat disease. New treatments are continually changing previously sight-limiting disease into routine opportunities to restore vision. Empire Eye and Laser Center strives not only to be on the cutting edge of new technology, but also we seek to educate our patients on how these new developments may benefit them.

To this end, we place an emphasis on both the education and the research components of clinical care. Our doctors educate each and every patient, we teach patients and doctors in our local community, and we lecture and share our knowledge on the state, national, and international levels.

Dr_Daniel_Chang_Microscope-leftDr. Daniel Chang is Director of our Clinical Research Team. Having been involved in clinical and basic science research since his undergraduate days at Caltech and his medical school years at Duke University, Dr. Chang brings a wealth of experience, which includes involvement in Phase III and Phase IV United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clinical studies.

Empire Eye and Laser Center has an ongoing commitment to advancing our understanding and technology though clinical research. In addition, our research provides us the ability to deliver cutting edge services to our patients. Phase III (premarket approval) trials involve investigational devices and drugs that are not yet available to the general public. This allows Empire Eye and Laser Center to give some patients access to advanced technology years before other practices may be able to do so.
