For Dr. Vin Dang, treating dry eye is personal. Because he lives with the condition himself, he understands the daily frustration of gritty, irritated eyes. This firsthand experience is what drives his work as the Director of our Dry Eye Center.
Dr. Dang is dedicated to helping our patients find real relief. He uses his expertise to create individual care plans that often include the latest local treatments like IPL, LipiFlow, Blephex, and ZEST. His goal is simple: to help you see clearly and feel comfortable again.
A Global Expert with a Local Heart
While he was born in Paris, France, Dr. Dang has truly made his home here in the Central Valley. He is a proud graduate of UC San Diego and earned his Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry. In 2016, he achieved his Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry, a distinction that marks his commitment to the highest standards of clinical care.
Our community’s trust in his care was highlighted in 2022 when he was voted “Best Optometrist” in the Bakersfield Californian Readers’ Choice Poll.
Dr. Dang also believes in using his skills to serve those in need. He regularly volunteers with global charities to provide eye care and glasses to underserved communities. His mission work has taken him across the world to places like India, Thailand, Central America, the Middle East, and right here in the Central Valley.
Leader in Education and Innovation
Beyond patient care, Dr. Dang is a respected voice in the eye care community. He frequently shares his knowledge by lecturing at national and international conferences. You might even find him in a more local setting, teaching eye health to students in his sons’ own classrooms.
He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association, and he previously served as President of the Kern County Optometric Society.
Life Outside the Clinic
Dr. Dang is fluent in both French and Cantonese. When he is not at the center of the latest eye care technology, he is usually exploring new electronic gadgets or traveling with his family. On the weekends, you will likely find him on a local pickleball court enjoying a match with his kids.
