Primary Care Optometrist
Born in Paris, France, Dr. Dang grew up in the suburbs of Paris. He moved to the United States at the age of 16. Dr. Dang earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from University of California San Diego, and went on to receive his doctorate in Optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry. During optometry school, Dr. Dang participated in a research project at the State University of New York, where they determine what factors affected a person’s ability to focus. Dr. Dang has extensive experience in the field of Optometry as both an optometrist and optician.
As our Primary Care Optometrist, Dr. Dang is fully capable and certified to handle everything from comprehensive eye examinations to the diagnosis and treatment of medical eye conditions such as glaucoma. So whether you need a new prescription for glasses, or if you’re worried about a problem with your eyes, Dr. Dang is happy to provide for your eye care needs. If your condition requires advanced medical or surgical intervention, Dr. Dang will refer you in a timely fashion to Dr. Joe Chang or Dr. Daniel Chang for your surgical needs.
Dr. Dang is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), California Optometric Association, and the Kern County Optometric Society. Dr. Dang is also a Clinical Assistant Professor for the College of Optometry, an auxiliary faculty position where he supervises WesternU students participating in clinical education experiences/internships. He was the Managing Optometric Doctor of Bakersfield LensCrafters for two years before joining Empire Eye and Laser Center as a full time medical specialist. Dr. Dang speaks fluent French and Cantonese.
Dr. Dang enjoys traveling with his wife, Karen, and son, Preston (2yrs). He spends his leisure time working on their home, hanging out with friends and family, and playing with their dog, Pepper. He is very tech savvy and is always on the lookout for the newest electronic gadget. Both he and his wife are proud to have welcomed their second son, Theo, in July of 2016.
