PRP is a type of regenerative therapy that uses a patient’s own blood (specifically the platelets within the blood), to regenerate collagen and other microscopic structures that support fresh, healthy looking skin. Because PRP comes from a patient’s own blood, there is virtually no risk of any kind of adverse (allergic) reaction. Platelets are also part of the body’s natural defense system, so they also help reduce the possibility of viral and bacterial infection.

Based on the innate healing ability of platelets, this innovative therapy is performed by injecting plasma with a high platelet concentration into the dermal layer of the skin. Platelets contain proteins called growth factors that activate existing cells and stimulate local stem cells to produce new cells and structures.

After a PRP injection, the amount of collagen within the dermal layer of the skin (cellular density) goes up, so does the skin’s ability to retain moisture — which leads to younger-looking skin.

PRP can be used to stimulate the activity of the hair follicles and promote new hair growth. For optimal results, patients are advised to receive four treatments, one month apart and maintenance treatments every 3 to 6 months.

PRP can also be combined with other treatments to offer enhanced results. Call 661-325-3937 for a free consultation.
